The success of this relatively new operation is guaranteed by Elizabetta Foradori, her dedication and touch in the Trentino raised Teroldego from an interesting local vine to major world player. I am almost sorry that she has planted no Teroldego here in the Maremma, it may have been interesting though I suspect it would have been illegal. What has been achieved here is worthy of note, the estate is divided into three altitudes and each has particular vine plantings and there is nothing new in this, but it has been done with thought and purpose. The blend is essentially ‘del Chateauneuf, meno Syrah, con Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc’. Why Cabernet Franc? I have no idea, a theory yes, idea no. My theory is that Teroldego and Cabernet Franc share certain traits and I would be amused to know the providence of each vine. Enough idle speculation which is bound to get me into trouble.
